1. Construction and rehabilitation of irrigation infrastructure used in the fields for sesame cultivation (mini-dams, reservoirs for rainwater harvesting, solar pumps);
2. Constitution and formation of village committees for the management and maintenance of irrigation infrastructure.
3. Establishment of grassroots associations of small farmers who are dedicated to sesame (mainly from female headed households), and training in management techniques, conflict resolution and administration of cooperative credit funds;
4. Training of producers in "good agricultural practices", through extension services, establishment of farmers' field schools, and provision of agricultural appropriate inputs.
5. Creating a sustainable production center for the production of sesame derivatives (oil, tahini, etc ..), so as to increase the added value and improve profit margins for small producers;
Improved agricultural conditions for the cultivation of sesame, guaranteeing access to water through the creation of irrigation infrastructure sustainable, given in management to local committees. The male and female sesame farmers are trained in good agricultural practices, and established in grassroots, grouping them by village or cluster of villages, and with priority to families headed by women.
The main target group of the project is represented by small farmers who grow sesame in the districts of Magway, Minbu, Taung Twin Gyi and Thayet, with a particular emphasis on households lead by women.
